The governance of EPI-PHARE
EPI-PHARE relies on governance bodies that allow it to operate in an agile and fluid manner while ensuring the representation of all staff and maintaining close ties with ANSM and CNAM. This governance also makes it possible to ensure the scientific robustness of the results produced by EPI-PHARE, in all transparency, independence and scientific integrity.
The Management Committee establishes and pilots the scientific strategy of EPI-PHARE. He is responsible for the realization and implementation of the missions of EPI-PHARE and for all questions relating to its activity. It maintains close relations with ANSM and CNAM and develops exchanges at national and international level.
Since 2019, EPI-PHARE has been headed by Pr. Mahmoud Zureik (University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines). Dr. Rosemary Dray-Spira (ANSM) and Dr. Alain Weill (CNAM) have been appointed assistant to the director.
- Pr. Mahmoud Zureik is a Doctor in Public Health specialized in epidemiology, graduated from the University of Paris XI.
Researcher and Research Director at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), he joined the French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) in 2012 as Head of the of Epidemiology of Health Products Division. In 2013 he was appointed Director of Strategy and International Affairs and Scientific Director at ANSM. Since the end of 2018, he is Director of EPI-PHARE.
Pr. Mahmoud Zureik received in 2005 the Prize of the French Committee for the Fight against Arterial Hypertension (French Society of Arterial Hypertension) for his work in the field of hypertension.
Pr. Mahmoud Zureik co-signed more than 130 articles indexed in PubMed.
- Dr. Rosemary Dray-Spira is a Medical Doctor specialized in Public Health with a PhD in Epidemiology, graduated from the University of Bordeaux and the University of Paris XI.
She has been a research fellow in epidemiology at INSERM since 2004 and has carried out her missions in France and internationally (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Djibouti; Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA). In 2015 she joined the French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) as Head of the Epidemiology Division. Since the end of 2018 she has been Deputy Director of EPI-PHARE.
Dr. Rosemary Dray-Spira has co-authored over 130 articles indexed in PubMed.
- Dr. Alain Weill is a Medical Doctor specialized in Public Health and Social Medicine, graduated from the Universities of Paris VI and Paris VII.
He joined the French National Health Insurance as a medical consultant in 1987 where he was in particular responsible for a division of the City and Hospital Care Department in 1998, Head of Service within the Directorate Strategy, Studies and Statistics, and the Deputy Head of the Department of Pathology and Patient Studies since 2006. Since the end of 2018, he has been Deputy Director of EPI-PHARE.
Dr. Alain Weill received in 2011 a Prize from the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) for his work on Mediator.
Dr. Alain Weill has co-authored over 170 articles indexed in PubMed.
The role of Scientific Council is to give an opinion on the scientific strategy of EPI-PHARE, its work program, its annual activity report and on its partnership policy. The Scientific Council also makes recommendations on any scientific and technical question within the field of competence of EPI-PHARE. It gives an opinion on the funding orientations towards academic teams for the realization of ad-hoc studies and gives an opinion on the teams to be funded. The Scientific Council assesses the scientific quality of EPI-PHARE at regular intervals and conducts a prospective reflection on its field of action.
EPI-PHARE relies on an International Scientific Council, made up of internationally recognized independent scientific personalities and chaired by Professor Bernard Bégaud.
The Steering Committee brings together the Management Comittee of EPI-PHARE and the general directors of CNAM and ANSM. The steering committee sets the general guidelines for EPI-PHARE. The steering committee discusses any strategic and ressources issue for EPI-PHARE. It also makes it possible to maintain close links with the institutional members ANSM and CNAM. The President of the Scientific Council is also invited to participate in the meetings of the Steering Committee
